Should I purchase the Beginner Level I-III video or the Intermediate Level I-II video?

We define three levels of instruction in our beginner salsa video and two levels of instruction in our intermediate salsa video. If you are interested in learning the basic steps, basic turns, cross body lead, lead and follow, and basic combinations/patterns of these, we recommend you to purchase our beginner salsa videos. If you are interested in learning cross body lead with turn, styling, and more complex combinations and patterns, we recommend you to purchase our intermediate salsa video. Please continue reading below to understand in a little more detail how we define the beginner levels and the intermediate levels of dancing.

Am I a beginner level dancer?

Beginner Level I includes knowledge and practice of the fundamental basic steps and turns. Students at this level have little or no salsa dancing experience. There are many students who have danced salsa but still need to learn at this beginner level to break bad habits and form a new understanding of the basics. We begin the Beginners Level 1 lessons with the three basic steps and several basic elements. Then we teach the right turn, left turn and other elements. At this level you will learn to put these movements together and how to follow/lead your partner.

Beginner Level II-III: This level requires the knowledge described above for beginner level I. At this level you will learn how to combine movements better. This level requires you to have practiced enough so you are able to dance to a slow to medium salsa tempo with out loosing the beat. At this level you work more deeply on the lead and follow technique in addition to learning the cross body lead and patterns that involve smooth transitions from turns to cross body leads.

Am I an intermediate level dancer?

Intermediate Level I-II requires the knowledge described above for beginner level I- III. If you are an intermediate student you should be comfortable with basic turns, cross body leads and smooth transitions between them. You should also be capable of dancing to fast tempo music without loosing the beat. At this level you will be learning cross body lead with turn, many combinations/patterns and how to transition between them with style. You will learn how to remember combinations that you feel comfortable with and better able to implement turns and directional changes with better balance and more styling. None of the combinations and patterns in our videos are choreographed and can be led to any lady at that same level.
